What you'll do:
This role will be interfacing regularly with other members of the leadership, reporting into Executives, and collaborating widely on cross business strategic projects and programmes. You will assess markets and find opportunities within them that are aligned to Viasat’s strategy – both for new products and existing ones. The opportunities will then be scoped during feasibility work before an outline proposition is built. The role will ensure that we are developing the most valuable propositions available and transitioning them to teams that will manage implementation.
The day-to-day:
- Develop business cases for strategic projects and programmes for Exec approval (multi-million dollar and multi-year), looking across the business portfolio

Assess the robustness of investment cases from other areas and feed into prioritisation calls with a Product Strategy lens

Define the propositions being proposed in Exec language (based on customer & tech team input)

develop the plans to commercialise the solution

coordinate with the BUs/central teams to develop the high level argument

Collaborate with team members to ensure alignment with the business proposal

Engage with Segments, Corporate teams and Markets to understand the opportunities related to the propositions. Objectively assess their likely market success given the competitive environment.

Engage with customers and Partners through insight team work and directly to determine the attractiveness of propositions

Coordinate across central teams and BUs to establish an outline programme of work and support the execution of propositions in the feasibility stages

Define an outline programme of work which will be handed onto to Segment Product and Functional Management teams for implementation

Engage with external partners on work related to strategic programmes and projects working towards agreements or contracts.

Feed into reporting and budgeting processes on strategic programmes

Develop financial models for opportunities to showcase the value of arguments
What you'll need:
- Experience as a consultant with strong background in finance with the following skill-sets and characteristics:
o hypothesis led, able to manage projects within an organisation/influence others (without hierarchical authority), able to work to tight timescales, ability to define a problem and then structure a path to a solution -
Skilled at financial and commercial modelling in Excel, including options analysis

Data driven and able to articulate and communicate the message behind the data

Excellent written and presentational skills, for Exec level

Ready, willing and ideally experienced at working across UK and West Coast time zones

Telco background. Satcom and networking knowledge a plus
