OVERALL SUMMARY
At Close Brothers we look to recruit individuals from all different backgrounds and encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick every box. We celebrate diversity, promote inclusivity and are open to discuss flexible work options to help you balance your work and home life.
Join Close Brothers Product Team where you will ensure the requirements for the delivery team are understood, prioritised and proportional to the benefit. They will have authority to decide, in collaboration with the team and the context of the business goal, what work is delivered and will work closely with the team to resolve issues and ensure deliverables maximise value.
Building effective relationships across multi-disciplined (CBL and vendor) teams and a broad set of stakeholders across CBL (Close Brothers Lending) will be essential.
The Product Owner is a crucial and senior role. It will help define new propositions, products, and capabilities, as well as shaping new ways of working. It will have wide visibility across the Motor Leadership Team and have significant influence on some decisions around strategy and roadmap.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Developing the Ideas
- Working in an agile environment, reviewing the business needs, refining priorities, defining milestones and outcomes, and identifying opportunities and risks.
- Understanding the commercial objectives and the ambition of the Retail Business to contribute to desired outcomes; autonomously managing allocated product(s) leading to the delivery of measurable value
- Being the voice of the customer and ensuring that we ‘walk a mile in their shoes’ when defining and refining ideas. Also involves ensuring associated artefacts (user journeys, pain point catalogues, etc) are kept updated.
Managing Stakeholders
- Working with the Product Manager to contribute to vision, roadmap and content presentations.
- Building and maintaining networks with a diverse group of leaders and colleagues to influence and deliver the product roadmap, collaborating with them to prioritise business, product and technical priorities to set the product direction. Working closely with leaders and executives, you'll craft what your product and capabilities enable and how to exploit its value to reach desired outcomes.
Working as part of the Delivery team
- Operating decisively within a complex environment to deliver high quality outputs and challenge the status quo, developing a culture of innovation and collaboration, role modelling a customer-centric approach at all times
- Being a daily decision maker for the team and attending all team ceremonies
WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:
- Experience working in the FS (Financial Services) industry, particularly in customer acquisition, customer on boarding or loan origination roles preferable
- Prior experience as a Digital Product Owner (in any industry) would be valuable, although not essential for candidates who can demonstrate excellent FS industry experience and desire to learn the PO role

- Knowledge of Agile methods and tools e.g. Kanban, Scrum, Jira and Confluence
- Ability to apply lean practices while delivering value through iterative product development
- Ability to build a strong partnership with stakeholders and demonstrate the commercial value of technology solutions.

- Strong problem-solving skills, using sound judgement to assess risks, and to lay out your argument in a well-structured, data-informed, narrative
- Highly motivated to prioritise and manage workload and create and meet critical deadlines.
- Ability to drive launch readiness, collaborating closely with all parties to ensure adoption
- Product Owner or Scrum certifications
