We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Education Tutor to join our adult learning team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in education, teaching practice, or education theory, and a passion for helping adult learners progress to university study in the education sector.
Our Access to Higher Education Diploma in Education is a coursework-based qualification (no exams) designed to prepare adult learners for progression to degree programmes in education, teaching support, educational psychology, special educational needs, or related fields. Key units include child development, roles and responsibilities in education, safeguarding, lesson planning, behaviour management, academic study techniques, and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead live online tutorial sessions (starting at 2 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours)
- Provide constructive feedback and guidance on coursework, assignments and portfolios
- Offer one-to-one mentoring and academic support tailored to adult learners
- Help learners build essential higher-education study skills: research, referencing, critical thinking, and essay writing
- Ensure sessions are recorded or learning materials are made available for self-directed and flexible study
- Monitor student engagement and progress, and liaise with programme coordinators regarding support needs
What We’re Looking For
- A degree or professional qualification in Education, Teaching, Child Development, Psychology, or a related field
- Experience teaching or mentoring adult learners—prior online teaching experience is a strong advantage
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to engage, motivate, and support learners from diverse backgrounds
- Ability to work from a quiet, professional home environment, and commit to the full academic year to ensure consistency for students
Additional Information
- Rate: £30 per lesson (this rate covers planning, delivery and marking time). Additional 1-1 tutoring and assessment work can also be invoiced at this rate.
- Contract: Self-employed (you will be responsible for your own tax obligations)
- Duration: Must be committed for the full academic year to provide continuity and stability for our adult learners
- Working pattern: Remote role with flexible scheduling, designed to fit around student needs and your availability
