Job Description
We’re recruiting for a Corporate Strategy Principal to join our Corporate Strategy Team, a function that supports the CEO, Chief Strategy & Product Officer and Executive Committee in the definition and delivery of L&G AM’s strategic vision.
What you'll be doing:
- Working with the CEO, Chief Strategy & Product Officer and Asset Management Executive Team in defining and delivering L&G Asset Management’s macro strategy. Embedding the Corporate Strategy team in EMEA within the wider business, e.g. Distribution, Investments, Product, and Marketing.
- Defining and coordinating the execution of key firm-wide strategic initiatives as required. Including but not limited to: i) identifying and evaluating growth opportunities across geographies/client channels, ii) defining new market entry strategies in partnership with Product, Marketing, Distribution and Investment teams, iii) Assessing and reviewing existing channels, investment capabilities etc.
- Supporting the definition and delivery of L&G AM’s overall corporate development strategy, including implementation planning and delivering overarching corporate strategy objectives
- Leading and overseeing the production of and presenting useful insights for L&G Asset Management in a robust, repeatable, and scalable platform
- Developing close working relationships with key stakeholders of counterparts throughout the business, resolving barriers to the successful achievement of agreed projects. Proactively identifying value-add collaboration opportunities and optimising communication, use of resources and linkage between teams
- Undertaking appropriate customer research and product testing, providing assurance that the product / proposition will perform as expected to meet the needs, characteristics, and objectives of customers in the target market
- Role modelling ‘OneSPM’ behaviours, unifying teams behind our purpose in driving and supporting sustainable business growth for the firm and continuing the development of a ‘one team’ ethos throughout Strategy, Product and Marketing (SPM)
- Working directly with individual business units to identify, prioritise and implement inorganic growth plans
Qualifications
Who we're looking for:
- Past experience in management/strategy consulting or equivalent is strongly preferable, especially within a strategy or corporate finance consultant position in a previous role within a professional services firm
- Strong knowledge of the asset management industry, both from a strategic and corporate finance perspective
- The ability to clearly define strategic objectives and work with a range of junior and senior stakeholders to successfully execute new projects across Macro Strategy, Consultancy, Corporate Development and Market Intelligence
- Drives and nurtures effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure enhanced collaboration and business performance
- Highly analytical and comfortable with data - able to identify, present and engage senior stakeholders on key implications from data in order to drive positive actions for the business.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills – strong ability to both produce and manage production of memos, briefing notes, and structured presentations for C-suite
- Demonstrable experience of successfully leading and delivering strategic projects/analyses, requiring strong end-to-end problem solving and story lining
- Comfortable and able to manage multiple stakeholders and differing priorities at once
