Role Summary
Aubay seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of large-scale, high-risk IT projects within our client’s organisation. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering complex projects to meet identified business needs. This role requires managing the full project lifecycle, ensuring that the necessary resources, skills, and governance structures are in place to deliver on business outcomes. You will drive the strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and project execution while coaching and developing your team to ensure a high-performing, motivated project environment.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience working on various projects in Energy/Oil & Gas.
- Agile project experience, including knowledge of various Agile frameworks and experience in planning and leading Agile projects.
- Experience in educating stakeholders and team members in Agile methodologies, with preferred certifications or training in Agile (e.g. Agile Coach, Scrum Master).
- Proficiency in Agile tools such as VSTS (Azure DevOps).
- Strong servant leadership qualities, fostering empowerment and transparency for self-organising teams.
- Professional project or programme management certifications (e.g. PMP, MSP).
- Demonstrated ability to learn quickly in unfamiliar and ambiguous situations.
- Strong stakeholder management and governance skills, including coaching senior stakeholders and creating executive-level communications.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Agile certifications or training preferred.
- Experience in creating executive communications and reports.
- Strong understanding of Agile project tools and methodologies, specifically VSTS.
- 10+ years in IT with 5+ years delivering progressively larger and more complex projects up to $5m, teams up to 20.
Role Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the full project lifecycle, from planning through to execution, monitoring, control, and closure, ensuring delivery within agreed timeframes, cost, and quality standards.
- Rigorously manage project scope, using a structured change management process to ensure business benefits are delivered within project constraints.
- Develop financial forecasts, manage budgets, and reconcile resources and expenditures. Employ creative costing and business models to enhance project efficiency.
- Partner with business stakeholders to validate strategic business cases, define success metrics, and ensure planned benefits are achieved. Identify and exploit additional benefits through systems, processes, and data.
- Ensure stakeholders are prepared for the operational business environment post-implementation through effective change management and communication plans.
- Apply client’s project management methodologies and IT control/assurance standards, ensuring compliance with architecture, risk management, and transition to support processes.
- Build and lead a high-performing project team through effective communication, workload management, and team recognition. Develop team members' skills through coaching and delegation.
- Establish robust governance structures to secure resources, resolve issues, and ensure project objectives are met.
- Proactively identify and address key project risks, assumptions, and factors (technical, business, adoption, organisational, etc.) that could impact project success, and adapt the project approach as necessary.
- Champion the development of long-term Project Management capability, contributing to community-building and best practices through coaching, external insights, and advanced skills development.
- Quickly establish trust with project sponsors and key stakeholders, aligning with their strategic priorities.
- Resolve conflicts and deliver challenging messages with professionalism and grace.
- Maintain team motivation, removing barriers and enabling them to meet objectives under pressure.
- Create executive-level communications and manage senior stakeholders effectively.
- Remain focused, productive, and resilient under pressure, recovering quickly from setbacks.
- Make calculated decisions to balance risk mitigation, value delivery, and project quality.
- Understand and integrate project goals with business objectives, adapting to challenges and changes as needed.
