Main Function of the role:
Following the acquisition of Hermes Investments by Federated in 2018, strategic initiatives to harmonise processes and practices are a strong element of the global change agenda. This role will provide Investment Operations BAU and change management support within a programme of work designed to reinforce firm wide integration, create opportunities for commercial growth, and deliver operational efficiency improvements across the US and UK. Phase one of harmonisation is adoption of consistent Trading Order Management System (OMS) and Federated Hermes Limited (FHL) will be moving from the current OMS to new Equity and Fixed income OMS platforms consistent with the US office, creating a harmonised global model. A key component is to establish an interim TMP Trade Management Provider model.
This will serve to support the core middle office functions specific to transaction management. The interim structure will introduce a newly defined Global Model. This new role sits as an independent function within Investment Operations reporting to the Head of Transaction Control and Oversight. As a Trade Support Manager, you will have a varied role supporting the new OMS and supporting systems with a broad view across all Front Office and Trade support functions.
This will also entail being the main contact for the daily management of Trade Support function.
Time will be split between picking up the new BAU processes and managing the tri-party outsource relationship:
• Act as the escalation conduit between front office and middle office.
• Manage the tri-age communication between our Outsourced Provider/s and other 3rd parties.
• Oversee & drive resolution of all trade related queries involving all parties
• Inventory Management (e.g. SSI’s, Standing instructions, Fund lists)
• Support & oversight of EOD control activities in conjunction with Middle Office operations
Key task and responsibilities:
• Ensure the daily tasks for the Trade Support function are met within stipulated timelines.
• Supporting front office and middle office business teams.
• Act as the main conduit between the two groups to manage the day-to-day trade support operational service.
• Oversight of the trade capture and validate trade details in the Order Management System (OMS).
• Monitor trade lifecycle, ensuring Middle Office receive IGO trades in their post trade domain.
• Escalation point for resolution of trade discrepancies and liaising with brokers, custodians, and internal teams.
• Support portfolio managers with trade-related queries and reporting.
• Ensure daily reconciliations of cash, positions, and transactions.
• Ensure compliance with investment guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate trade records for audit and reporting purposes.
• Collaborate with IT and operations to improve trade workflows and systems.
• Participate in system testing and process improvement initiatives.
• Identify operational risks in trade processing and escalate issues promptly.
• Support audit and control processes by maintaining proper documentation and logs.
• Broker Management (Monthly MI production)
• Commission Management work with Data Operations to ensure OMS is accurate at all times
• Execution platform set up for new funds and brokers
• Manage new market entry documentation where required
• Drive input into setting up new trading agreements
• Create and present relevant MI to a high standard
• Aid in the production of relevant MI to a high standard
Minimum experience required:
• Strong experience in a trade support management role
• Deep knowledge and experience of the Equity, Fixed Income, Derivatives and cash processing in
institutional and pooled funds environment
• Charles River and Bloomberg Aim knowledge is essential
• Experience of query management in fast paced environment
• Experience of managing outsourced service provision
• Worked with NT and or BNY as middle office service providers
Experienced Required:
• Degree educated (or equivalent), professional qualification desirable
• Knowledge of offshore fund administration
•Transition experience
