Summary
We are seeking a Director of Operations to join our esteemed team at The Harley Street ENT Clinic in London. This pivotal role will oversee the operational functions of our clinic, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care while supporting our mission to be the premier ENT service provider.
Director of Operations Reports to: Registered Manager
Job Purpose:
The post holder is required to provide strong leadership to all operational and clinical teams across the Clinic, ensuring that the organisation provides services that are clinically effective, safe, compliant and deliver excellent customer experiences. The post holder will drive operational performance in line with the Clinic’s key values, delivering high quality care and promoting good outcomes for patients. Increase activity to ensure that the Clinic is utilised to its full capacity and meets its ambitious growth objectives, further reinforcing Harley Street ENT’s reputation in the market for excellence in healthcare.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operational and strategic leadership for all activities.
- Effectively manage clinical and customer facing operations delivering maximum operating efficiency, ensuring that all clinical and financial targets and key performance indicators are achieved.
- Ensure the Clinic strives for good or better in the key 5 domains – Safe, Caring, Effective, Responsive and Well led.
- Continually strive for improved performance, aiming to exceed targets and standards as well as continually raising customer service standards.
- Maximise the income achieved across the Clinic while controlling expenditure.
- Implement a commercial development plan to ensure the Clinic’s long-term viability and that it thrives within a highly competitive health economy.
- Grow and develop all aspects of the business by the identification and evaluation of market opportunities.
Clinic’s wider growth strategy:
- Work with the Directors in developing and driving marketing strategies and building strong knowledge and awareness of competitor strategies, identifying emerging trends and opportunities for growth.
- Build and maintain excellent working relationships with the consultant body in order to maximise business opportunities, including recruiting new consultants and exploring new ways of working/partnering with key users.
Person Specification: Education/Qualifications
- Degree Level Education or equivalent level of experience
- Professional Qualification / MBA highly desirable
Experience
- Solid experience as a director or equivalent with a strong record of service delivery and innovation in a complex commercial healthcare provider
- A track-record of managing budgets and resources, and of delivering high quality clinical services that are profitable and financially sustainable.
- Highly developed commercial acumen with excellent contracting, negotiation and business development skills; a demonstrable track record of identifying and delivering opportunities for business growth.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills with experience of dealing directly with high calibre clinicians, patients and a range of other stakeholders
- Involvement in strategy setting and business planning across an organisation.
Skills and knowledge
- In depth knowledge of the independent healthcare market and with a good feel for where growth opportunities lie currently and in the future.
- Understanding of how to run a ‘best-in-class’ customer focused organisation and develop customer loyalty. Ability to collect and analyse feedback from patients and implement learnings for improvement.
- Understanding of how to implement and build a Risk Register for the organisation.
- Understanding of how to create and implement a marketing and business development strategy.
- Ability to lead, motivate, support and develop employees to enable contribution to business goals and objectives.
- Numerate, able to analyse, interpret and make recommendations using data; proven skills in monitoring and controlling performance using financial and statistical data.
- Understanding of Care Quality Commission Regulatory environment.
Salary
£90,000-120,000 depending on experience, plus an annual performance related bonus.
