About PlayEquip
PlayEquip is a small but fast-growing design practice that creates bespoke playgrounds and sculptural play elements for high-end developers, councils, architects, and private clients. From natural timber play sculptures to stainless-steel slides perched on rooftops, our projects are diverse, highly tailored and design-driven.
The Role
We are looking for a keen Junior Product Designer to help us take our design output to the next level. Initially, your primary focus will be to create detailed drawing packages for our existing range of products (so that we can diversify our supplier & fabricator network). As you grow into the role, you’ll play a part in all stages of our bespoke design projects — from concept development to technical detailing and fabrication liaison.
Key Responsibilities
– Produce accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawing packs for our catalogue products
– Convert design intent into manufacturing / fabrication drawings
– Work closely with the director and senior designer on bespoke playground design packages
– Participate in design development and problem-solving across projects
– Maintain a clear, organised archive of drawing files and models
– New product development
Ideal Candidate
– Degree in Industrial/Product Design or closely-related discipline
– Strong 3D CAD ability (e.g. SolidWorks, Rhino, Fusion, Inventor, etc.)
– Confident with 2D technical drawing in AutoCAD (or similar)
– A practical understanding of fabrication/manufacturing methods (wood, metal, CNC, etc.)
– Ability to work independently and proactively in a remote setup
– Genuinely excited about playful, creative, real-world design
Why Join PlayEquip?
– Real ownership and variety from day one
– Projects that are anything but ordinary
– Opportunity to grow with the business into a more senior design role
– Flexible remote-working culture with trust and autonomy
Salary & Progression
We expect the right candidate to fall in the range of £24–30k, depending on experience and skillset. As the business grows, there is a clear route for this role to evolve into a mid-weight design position with more responsibility, creative input, and client/project ownership.
