Role Overview:
As Operations Director, you will lead the day-to-day running of all operational departments, ensuring seamless delivery across our services. Working closely with the CEO and MD, you’ll drive performance, uphold compliance, and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the CEO and MD to shape and implement operational strategy
- Take ownership of day-to-day business operations, ensuring consistent and efficient delivery across departments
- Provide leadership and guidance to departmental teams, fostering accountability and continuous improvement
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers, contractors, and external stakeholders
- Track departmental performance, using KPIs and operational data to drive results
- Uphold all legal, regulatory, and industry standards across operational functions
- Lead on health and safety, embedding best practice across all teams and sites
- Drive operational efficiencies, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
- Ensure customer expectations are met with professionalism, responsiveness, and high service standards
- Regularly assess and improve internal processes to support growth and resilience
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Operations Director with proven leadership in highways, civil engineering, or road construction. The ideal candidate will ideally have deep operational experience across surfacing, planing, fleet management, and multi-site delivery, with a strong grasp of health and safety, compliance, and DVSA/O Licence obligations. You’ll be confident managing cross-functional teams, external contractors, and large-scale logistics, while driving efficiency, cost control, and service excellence.
You’ll bring a track record of improving performance, leading change, and translating business goals into operational plans. Strong stakeholder management, commercial awareness, and the ability to foster a high-performing, safety-first culture are essential. Experience in managing budgets, KPIs, and continuous improvement initiatives will be key to success in this role. A competitive salary is offered, negotiable depending on experience
