Purpose: this is a short term contract role of initially 9 months only. CANDIDATES MUST BE AVAILABLE FOR AN IMMEDIATE START AND REGULAR COMMUTE TO SITE NEAR TRURO for at least 4 days per week, one day may be WFH
This role will play a pivotal role in translating Bennamann's product solutions into site-specific design packages that align with the company’s quality, safety, and operational standards. Acting as the bridge between design, construction, commissioning, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of multidisciplinary packages including process, mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering into cohesive, operable systems.
Working closely with the Project Manager, the Project Engineer ensures projects are delivered within time, cost, and quality constraints. They proactively identify risks, recommend improvements to design, and manage sub-contractors and consultants. Maintaining continuous collaboration across internal teams and stakeholders, they support the successful execution of projects.
The Project Engineer acts as the Principal Designer under CDM regulations on behalf of Bennamann, working alongside the head of HS&E to ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and requirements.
On-site, the Project Engineer ensures that designs are realised as intended, oversees commissioning activities, resolves technical queries, and verifies documentation for a smooth operational handover.
Principle responsibilities
· Co-ordinate Bennamann and third party design packages, across multiple disciplines into site specific designs with consideration for constructability & operability.
· Collaborate with the Project Manager to deliver projects within agreed time, cost, and quality constraints, maintaining alignment across engineering, deployment, and operations teams to ensure seamless project execution· Identify and escalate risks, proposing opportunities to improve delivery efficiency.
· Accountable for the production, correction & modification of site specific drawings & specifications.
· Act as the Principal Designer on behalf of Bennamann under CDM regulations with support from Bennamann’s external CDM advisor.
· Work with the Q&R Engineer to ensure design outputs meet Bennamann quality standards
· Ensure compliance with Bennamann’s Health, Safety & Environmental procedures
· Support the Project Manager with reporting to internal and external stakeholders
· Be available on-site during deployment to ensure delivery aligns with design intent and resolve technical queries.
· Coordinate & provide timely responses to technical queries received from site.
· Prepare and manage site-specific commissioning documentation and oversee commissioning activities.
· Ensure accuracy and completeness of technical documentation, configuration items, and asset records.
· Ensure as-built documentation and drawings are produced for smooth operational handover.
· Collaborate with the Project Manager to record and implement lessons learned.
We are looking for the following skills/experience:
· Demonstrated experience in managing and coordinating multidisciplinary site design projects.
· Strong leadership skills with a track record of leading engineering and operations teams effectively.
· An awareness and understanding of process system design (Oil and Gas preferable).
· Experience acting as a principal designer under CDM regulations.
· Competence in working within established engineering standards, with the ability to create and adapt standards based on specific process design needs.
· Experience in process safety management, including HAZOP, HAZID, and BowTie methodologies.
Engineering or Scientific degree
